G: Cake Smash!

Cake smashing. One of the trends of our time to be sure, but oh.so.much.fun.! G enjoyed smashing the cake at his first birthday party so much, that I had no doubt that he would love a little repeat action for his official one year photoshoot. If you remember when C turned one, we did an official cake smash photoshoot as well (here), so I knew ahead of time I wanted to do the same for G. I found G's cake smash outfit on Etsy, and after trying it on him, couldn't wait to get our pictures back. Such a dapper little dude...that bowtie...does it get any more adorable?!? I just love how these pictures turned out, and will cherish them for years to come.

What is this all over my feet?! After smashing his way through, and eating approximately half of the cake (notice his mouth covered in frosting), G realized that he also had frosting all over his hands, feet, and legs. He was NOT a fan, and we went through about half a container of wipes to get him cleaned up enough to put back in the car to head home for a bath.

G: One Year Old Photos

To cap off G's first year, we captured his final milestone photos with a photo shoot a couple weeks after he turned one. I have loved doing milestone photos with each of our boys, and think it is so much fun to look back at how much our kiddos changed in the first year of their lives. It's amazing to see how much changes every three months when looking back at these milestone photos, and how different the boys look from each other at the same age. How time flies! The day of this particular shoot, G was not in the best of moods, so we didn't get a ton of super smiley Mr. Personality photos portraying his usual self, but we did manage to capture a few to commemorate the occasion. Stay tuned for Part 2 - Cake Smashing!

Let's Go Golfing!

When asking C what one of his favorite things about summer is, his response was 'going on a hunt to find Daddy's ball when it gets lost'. LOL. That being said, our little caddy has had so. much. fun. learning how to golf with his dad this summer. He got his first set of clubs for his birthday back in May, and pretty much every nice day since he has drug them out of the garage into the front yard, or along on a walk to the park to practice his golf skills. If you ask T, I'm not sure what C enjoys more...actual golfing...or just riding along in the golf cart with Dad. Either way, he has loved learning the game, and it has been a great bonding experience for him with Dad.

Family is Forever

Earlier this summer, we scheduled a weekend that my ENTIRE family would be at the lake to have an extended family photo shoot. Now that my siblings and I are older and no longer live at home to be part of the super-posed once-every-five-years church portrait of our youth, we usually try to get a group shot at least once a year. That being said, we have never done a professional shoot outside of weddings...which are always fun...but then someone is always in a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress and/or a tuxedo or fancy suit. Not exactly our everyday looks, if you know what I mean, and the photos turn out to be more about the event than us just being...well...us. This being said, we have done a reasonably decent job with setting up a tripod and timer over the past few years around the holidays, but now that our family has expanded to include spouses and kiddos, it's just nice to have a professional step in every once and a while that has some better photography and editing skills than your's truly :) Personally, I LOVE having pictures taken. No, I don't always love the stress of finding the perfect outfits or getting everyone ready to go on picture day (as I'm sure most of you would agree), but having quality pictures to look back on and having a moment in time with family captured forever is truly something I think is worth every cent. I should also mention that the day we had our pictures scheduled turned out to be pretty much the hottest, most humid day of the summer, so we ended up taking them at 7:30a.m. - you can just about imagine the cooperation! As always, I've got to hand it to our photographer for doing her best with less than perfect conditions!
